Description of Levels
All Levels: From the new student to the advanced practitioner, All Levels classes are suitable for everyone.
Beginner: These are our most basic level classes, designed for those newer to yoga. Beginner classes are an excellent place to learn, and will leave students feeling prepared to step into any of our higher level class offerings with confidence.
Level 1: These classes are the next step after introductory classes. They move a bit faster than the Basics classes. While it is advised that a student have some yoga experience, a fit beginner should be fine. These classes will be gentle by nature and open to all levels of practitioner.
Levels 1 & 2: These more challenging classes continue to build on poses that are fundamental to yoga, requiring a bit more strength, flexibility, and balance. These classes assume some yoga knowledge and experience. Modifications of postures and the use of props are still instructed and described, ensuring more difficult postures and sequences are practiced safely and effectively.
Levels 2 & 3: At this level we assume that students know alignment of basic to intermediate yoga postures, and are willing to explore more advanced postures. Expect the focus to be less on alignment, and more on moving deeper into your practice. This is our most dynamic, energetic, and challenging class, and is not suitable for students who are new to yoga.
Beach Yoga: Join us for a fun outdoor freedom of expression on Hilton Head's sandy beaches. A one hour eb-and-flow practice using your ocean breath honoring our native sun. Feel stress gently wash away with the outgoing tide, and a new relaxed you arrives with every salty wave that comes ashore. Bring a beach towel to practice on (mats not necessary), water, and dress in comfortable clothing. We meet at Coligny Beach, to the left of the end of the boardwalk. Parking is available at the public lot across the street. Finished FOR THE SEASON
Pranayama - The Art of Yoga Breathing (ANY OF OUR CLASSES)
When the breath wanders, the mind is unsteady, but when the breath is still, so is the mind still." - Hatha Yoga Pradipika
Breath is life. Breathing is one of our most vital functions. One of the five principles of Yoga is Pranayama, which promotes proper breathing. In a Yogic point of view, proper breathing brings more oxygen to the blood and to the brain. To control Prana is to control vital life energy. Pranayama Yoga also goes hand in hand with the Asanas. The union of these two Yogic Principles is considered as the highest form of purification and self-discipline, covering both the mind and body.
