Hi, I’m Jean!
Yoga has woven its way into every part of my life—it’s my breath, my anchor, and my spark. From the moment I rolled out my mat, I felt a deep connection to something bigger. This practice offered me the space to slow down, tune in, and truly accept myself with compassion—and I knew right away I wanted to share that gift with others.
My yoga journey began at Peachtree Yoga Center in Atlanta with Graham Fowler, and it’s taken me down some pretty inspiring paths since. I’ve trained with teachers who have each shaped my teaching in beautiful ways—Tias Little, Doug Keller, Sean Tebor, Baron Baptiste, Mark White, Sarah Powers—and have also been influenced by Stacy Dockins (The Yoga Project), Phillip Urso (Live Love Teach), and Tim Miller in the Ashtanga tradition.
I’ve also been a licensed massage therapist since 1995, which fuels my deep love for anatomy and the human body. I see yoga as therapy in motion—where alignment, awareness, and soul all come together. My greatest joy is helping students tap into their own strength, courage, and potential.
In my classes, you’ll find breath-led vinyasa flow that’s created in the moment, tailored to the energy in the room. Expect challenge and play, movement and stillness, effort and ease. You’ll be encouraged to explore your edge, soften into rest, and leave feeling a little more open to life.
I founded Jiva Yoga in 2001, and now co-own it with my husband Ken. With the amazing Jiva team by our side, we continue to grow this vibrant, heart-filled community.
I’d love to see you on the mat!
